Dynamics

This is a classic module in mechanical engineering that studies the forces and their effects on motion. Considering that this is a mechatronics degree, we explore these concepts through the lens of machines and their movement.

Mechanics of Materials

Mechanics is another classic module of mechanical engineering that considers the forces that act on the objects and that create motion. Again, since this is in context of a mechatronics degree, we explore mechanics in relation to the movement of machines.

 

Design and Electro-Mechanical Systems

This module covers the understanding of techniques for product design when integrating mechanical, electronics, and software. This module also includes an understanding of material selection and manufacturing process.

 

Energy Technologies

The principles and practice of conventional and renewable power generation systems as well as technical, economic, environmental and political consideration. We also explore generating power from water, wind, biomass, solar, solar thermal, and nuclear sources.

Digital Signal Processing *

As systems move from analog to digital, we need to swap our understanding of engineering principles to the digital realm and how their performance is assessed. The fundamental system design has also changed using electronic design automation tools and various new methodology.

Materials for Semiconductors

Control Engineering

The control of systems can be split into scientific methods and mathematical principles as they relate to mechanical and related engineering disciplines. Both will be covered in this module as well as how engineering principles can apply to key engineering processes.

Integrated Electro-Mechanical Systems

This module takes us through, in teams, the process of designing test procedures, integrating the elements, and analysing the constraints that impact the design and operation of the mechatronics system.

Individual Project

This module is the culmination of all that you have learned in this course and before, into a single, individual project.
