Digital Design

This module covers the design of microprocessors and DSP structures, circuit and logic behaviour, performance and speed and power consumption of digital systems and a variety of core skills and knowledge that is essential to correct digital design.

 

Signal Processing

Signal Analysis, Power, Laplace Transforms, Frequence response, Filters, and Systems Electronics.

 

Control

System modelling and the use of transfer functions. Developing models from first engineering principles, and using Laplace operators. System classifications by order as well as system time and response and behaviour. Closed loop feedback control and the use and manipulation of Block diagrams.

Energy Technologies

The principles and practice of conventional and renewable power generation systems as well as technical, economic, environmental and political consideration. We also explore generating power from water, wind, biomass, solar, solar thermal, and nuclear sources.

Digital Signal Processing *

As systems move from analog to digital, we need to swap our understanding of engineering principles to the digital realm and how their performance is assessed. The fundamental system design has also changed using electronic design automation tools and various new methodology.

This module covers enhanced classical control system analysis and design, control mathematics, use of MatLab, Advanced control concepts, Modelling and analysis of multivariable control systems, Design of multivariable state-feedback controllers, digital control systems analysis and design.

Power Electronics 

Power Electronic Systems, DC to DC Choppers, AC to DC Converters, DC to AC Inverters, AC to AC Regulators, Switched Mode Power Supplies, Power Electronic Switches, High Voltage DC Transmission, FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems), Power Electronics for Wind, Solar and Hydro: Grid Interconnection

This module is the culmination of all that you have learned in this course and before, into a single, individual project.
